Midland Restoration Process And Tree Cutting


The following photos will give you a gradual look at Midland as the restoration process began. This process took many years to get it to look as it does today. Please note that the process is not easy nor is it an over night or year task.

Can you spot Midland Cemetery?
This is the picture taken several years prior to starting clean up. At this time we had no idea of the size or history of Midland Cemetery.

Midland, the early years. This is the headstone of the William's family. The tree had grown around the headstone. We cut the tree leaving the stump until we could carefully chip away at the stump to remove the headstone.

We discovered several headstones in tree stumps.

In the beginning 1991-1993 the Pennsylvania Conservation Corp would assist with cutting the trees down. Each section was done for three consecutive years. They did not remove the stumps, those were removed as the years progressed.
